Psychosocial consequences of cohabitation with an alcohol-dependent parent in the family of orientation

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá problematikou alkoholové závislosti v kontextu orientační rodiny. Konkrétně se zaměřuje na vliv alkoholismu rodiče na život rodiny, především na život dětí. Diplomová práce je rozdělena na dvě části. Teoretická část se skládá ze tří kapitol. První kapitola pojednává o účincích alkoholu na lidský organismus, rozdělení uživatelů alkoholických nápojů a spotřebě alkoholu v České republice. Druhá kapitola se věnuje samotné alkoholové závislosti, přibližuje například faktory podílející se na jejím vzniku a vývoji, průběh rozvoje závislosti a léčbu. Samostatná podkapitola je zaměřena na primární prevenci alkoholové závislosti ve školním prostředí. Třetí kapitola popisuje vliv alkoholové závislosti rodiče na život dítěte, s důrazem na jeho psychické zdraví a charakteristiku dospělých dětí alkoholiků. Autorka v praktické části diplomové práce předkládá kvalitativní výzkumné šetření a jeho výsledky. Hlavním cílem praktické části je hlubší porozumění rizikovým faktorům psychického zdraví lidí, jejichž orientační rodina byla ovlivněna alkoholismem rodiče.

Abstract:

The thesis concerns the matter of alcohol dependence in the context of the family of origin. It focuses on the impact of alcohol dependence of a parent on family life, especially on the lives of children. The thesis is divided into two parts. Theoretical part is comprised of three chapters. The first chapter describes the effects of alcohol on the human body, the division of alcohol drinkers and the alcohol consumption in the Czech Republic. The second chapter deals with alcohol dependence, for example the factors influencing its onset and development, its progress and treatment. A section of the chapter is dedicated to the primary prevention of alcoholism in schools. The third chapter examines the impact of parent’s alcohol dependence on the child’s life, with emphasis on mental health and characteristics of adult children of alcoholics. In the empirical part the author presents a qualitative inquiry and its results. The main objective of the empirical part is deeper understanding of risk factors of mental health issues of people, whose family of origin was influenced by parent’s alcoholism.
