Education for the Responsibility and Ethical Attitude towards Animals in the Upper Primary School

Abstract:

Diplomová práce přibližuje jedno z aktuálních témat současnosti, a to problematiku zvířat v lidské společnosti. Teoretická část je zaměřena na možnost výchovy k odpovědnému a etickému vztahu ke zvířatům u žáků na základní škole. Problematika zahrnuje množství témat, která se týkají běžného života, a která lze na základní škole obsáhnout téměř ve všech vyučovacích předmětech, včetně výchovy ke zdraví. Důležitou částí teorie je charakteristika etického postoje člověka ke zvířatům v souvislosti s rozvojem empatie a odpovědnosti k lidem a životnímu prostředí. Pro správné pochopení postavení zvířat v naší společnosti je součástí teorie také kapitola o právech a ochraně zvířat a jednotlivých oblastech problematiky zvířat v lidské společnosti. Praktická část práce je založena na popisu dotazníkového výzkumného šetření, které má za úkol zmapovat informovanost a postoje a u žáků osmých a devátých ročníků základní školy a umožňuje srovnat výsledky mezi malým městem a velkoměstem.

Abstract:

The thesis describes one of the current topics that is the issue of animals in human society. The theoretical part is focused on possibilities of education for the responsible and ethical attitude towards animals at primary schools. The issue is comprised of amount of topics connected with common life and these topics could be contained in almost every school subjects, counting Health education. The important part of the thesis is description of ethical attitude of human towards animals in a connection with a development of empathy and responsibility to humans and environment. On the grounds of right understanding of a position of animals in human society chapters in theoretical part also contain information about animal rights and protection of animals and particular fields of issues of animals in human society. The practical part of the thesis is based on the description of questionnaire survey focused on finding out the awareness and attitude of pupils to the topic of animal rights and welfare and to compare the resulting values between the pupils from a small town and a city.
