Stately Residence Installations

Abstract:

Cílem této práce je snaha vedená zájmem o hlubší přiblížení a srovnání rozličných typů zámeckých instalací, jejich vznik a vývoj. Na základě konkrétních příkladů sledujeme komplikovanou politicko-kulturní historii, tehdejší chápání zpřístupnění památek i způsob vypořádání se se šlechtickým odkazem ve druhé polovině dvacátého století. Podstatou práce je široký záběr využití zámeckých objektů v kombinaci se snahou o přiblížení nelehké doby, ve které se jednotlivé instalace realizovaly. Zabýváme se z historického hlediska dobou poměrně nedávnou, přesto v ní panují značně rozporuplné odborné názory a nejasnosti, které budou též součástí výzkumu. Práce se stručně dotkne i zmapování názorů na tuto epochu prostřednictvím památkářů a kastelánů, kteří profesně období druhé poloviny minulého století alespoň z části zažili a mohou tedy instalace té doby s jistým odstupem zhodnotit.

Abstract:

This paper aims at providing a fairly detailed description and comparative analysis of various types of stately residence installations, including their inception and subsequent development. Specific examples are employed in a survey of the complex political and cultural history in this field, with respect to the official approach to the accessibility of heritage locations in the given period, and the ways of dealing with aristocratic heritage in the second half of the 20th century. The study´s main focus is on the broad scale of use newly reserved for stately residences, accompanied by an informative commentary outlining the broader context of the difficult historical period in which the individual installations came into existence. Though the period under survey here is still comparatively recent, it already presents a scene rife with profound contradictions in expert views, entailing a good many ambiguities which are yet to be subjected to further research. The present study likewise reserves a brief section to charting opinion on the period in question through a poll involving heritage experts and wardens who have accumulated first-hand professional experience of at least a part of the second half of the 20th century, and are therefore capable of assessing with hindsight the various installations.
