Propaganda in Soviet Cinema in the First Half of the 20th Century

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis is dealing with propaganda in Soviet Cinema during the period 1917-1941. It is focused on the way in which Soviet cinema has reflected political and social changes during the first decades of the state´s existence. Analysis of the main features of Soviet propaganda since 1917 until the beginning of The Great Patriotic War is based on selected movies from this period. The aim of this thesis is to identify changes in the form, aims and tools of Soviet propaganda during the defined period.

Abstract:

Bakalárska práca sa zaoberá propagandou v sovietskej kinematografii v období od roku 1917 do roku 1941. Zameriava sa na spôsob, akým sovietska kinematografia reflektovala spoločenské a politické zmeny prebiehajúce v ZSSR v prvých desaťročiach existencie štátu. Práca identifikuje hlavné motívy v sovietskej filmovej propagande od roku 1917 po Veľkú vlasteneckú vojnu na základe vybraných filmov z tohto obdobia. Cieľom práce je zistiť či a ako sa zmenila forma, ciele a nástroje filmovej propagandy od roku 1917 po Veľkú vlasteneckú vojnu.
