Analysis, design and implementation of a data catalog for large multinational logistics company.

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá pojetím řízení informačních technologií v nadnárodní společnosti s větším náhledem na řízení datových toků. Hlavním cílem je implementace datového katalogu jakožto podpory řízení datových toků. Zabývá se začleněním a analýzou problémů v rámci řízení společnosti a efekt implementace daného software pro dané části. To tedy zahrnuje prvotní začlenění do řízení společnosti, identifikaci problémů a potenciálních efektů implementace, analýzu současného stavu souvisejícím s řízením datových toků ve společnosti. Na základě průzkumu trhu bylo provedeno porovnání dostupných řešení v několika pohledech a iteracích, z čehož byl vybrán jeden nástroj, který byl implementován. V závěru práce jsou identifikovány možnosti rozšíření implementovaného řešení v rámci celkového řízení datových toků. Práce bude vázána na interní prostředí společnosti DHL IT Services Europe, s.r.o., díky čemuž může docházet k mnohým omezením jako například přístupu k datovým zdrojům a podobné. Z důvodu nedokončeného nasazení nástroje do produkčního prostředí nelze zcela vyhodnotit splnění efektů a poskytnout hodnocení nástroje koncovými uživateli.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis is about the concept of infornation technology management in a multinational company with a greater insight into the data flows management. The main goal is the implementation of a data catalog as a support for the management of data flows. It deals with the integration and analysis of problems within the management of the company and the effect of the implementation of the given software for the given parts. This includes the initial integration into the management of the company, identification of problems and potential effects of implementation, analysis of the current state related to the management of data flows in the company. Based on market research, a comparison of available solutions was made in several views and iterations, from which one tool was selected and implemented. At the end of the thesis, the possibilities of expanding the implemented solution within the framework of the comprehensive management of data flows are identified. The work will be tied to the internal environment of DHL IT Services Europe, s.r.o., which may have many restrictions, such as access to data sources and the like. Due to the incomplete deployment of the tool in the production environment, it is not possible to fully evaluate the fulfillment of the effects and provide an evaluation of the tools by end users.
