Christmas Eve's Dream by Mořic Anger and Nutcracker by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky - comparison of origins and performances of two ballets from the late 1880s and early 1890s

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce srovnává mezi sebou balet Štědrovečerní sen od skladatele Mořice Angera a balet Louskáček od Pjotra Iljiče Čajkovského. Balety jsou srovnávány z hlediska úrovně provedení na přelomu 80. a 90. let 19. století, námětu, prvotního impulzu, který vedl ke vzniku baletů a dobových hodnocení. K jednotlivým baletům jsou podány informace týkající se příběhu, skladatele a choreografa. Práce podává také obraz ve vývoji baletu u nás a v Rusku do konce 19. století.

Abstract:

The thesis compares ballet Christmas Eve´s Dream by composer Mořic Anger and ballet Nutcracker by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. Ballets are compared according to a performance level at the turn 80´s and 90´s of the 19th century, theme, the first impulse which lead up to formation ballets and their evaluation from that time. Information about the individual ballet stories, compositor and choreographer are given. The thesis gives overall view of evolution of ballet in Czech countries and Russia until the end of the 19th century.
