Cognitive rehabilitation in occupational therapy in individuals with Alzheimer's disease

Abstract:

Abstrakt Úvod: Alzheimerovou chorobou trpí v České republice přes 150 tisíc lidí. V následujících desetiletích je předpokládáno, že počet lidí s tímto onemocněním naroste až na dvojnásobek. Tato bakalářská práce je věnována problematice kognitivní rehabilitace při ergoterapeutické intervenci osob s Alzheimerovou chorobou. Cíl práce: Cílem bakalářské práce je seznámení se s problematikou Alzheimerovy choroby a představení možnosti kognitivní rehabilitace u pacientů s Alzheimerovou chorobou. Metodika: Hlavní část bakalářské práce je zaměřena na představení možností kognitivní rehabilitace u pacientů s Alzheimerovou chorobou. Bakalářská práce byla vypracována formou kvalitativního výzkumu s použitím kazuistiky u klientky trpící Alzheimerovou chorobou. K posouzení aktuálního stavu byla využita forma nestrukturovaného rozhovoru, přímého pozorování, využití standardizovaných testů (MMSE, Barthel index, geriatrická škála deprese). Na základě výsledků byl sestavený krátkodobý a dlouhodobý ergoterapeutický plán. Výsledky: Zhodnocení vstupních a výstupních výsledků ergoterapeutických intervencí. Na základě výsledků z krátkodobého ergoterapeutického plánu byl vytvořen dlouhodobý ergoterapeutický plán. Závěr: Hodnocení úspěšnosti, důležitosti a využití ergoterapeutických intervencí u klientky s Alzheimerovou chorobou. Dále je zde uvedeno doporučení pro praxi.

Abstract:

Abstract Introduction: Over 150 thousand people in the Czech Republic suffer from Alzheimer's disease. In the coming decades, the number of people with the disease is expected to double. This bachelor thesis is devoted to the problem of cognitive rehabilitation in occupational therapy intervention of people with Alzheimer's disease. Aim of the thesis: The aim of the bachelor thesis is to get acquainted with the issue of Alzheimer's disease and to introduce the possibility of cognitive rehabilitation in patients with Alzheimer's disease. Methods: The main part of the bachelor thesis is focused on the presentation of the possibilities of cognitive rehabilitation in patients with Alzheimer's disease. The bachelor thesis was developed in the form of qualitative research using a case study of a client suffering from Alzheimer's disease. The form of unstructured interview, direct observation, and the use of standardized tests (MMSE, Barthel index, Geriatric Depression Scale) were used to assess the current condition. Based on the results, a short- term and long-term occupational therapy plan was developed. Results: Evaluation of input and output outcomes of occupational therapy interventions. Based on the results from the short-term occupational therapy plan, a long-term occupational therapy plan was developed. Conclusion: Evaluating the success, importance, and use of occupational therapy interventions in a client with Alzheimer's disease. Recommendations for practice are also provided.
