The problematics of gender quotas on the Czech labor market

Abstract:

Genderové kvóty na pracovním trhu jsou stále běžnější praxí. Evropská unie novou směrnicí zavádí minimální procentuální hranici, kterou musí v orgánech společností zastupovat ženy. Téma genderových kvót je ale i tak ve společnosti stále předmětem diskuse. Cílem této bakalářské práce tak bylo zanalyzovat názory české společnosti na genderové kvóty ve vedoucích pozicích. Pomocí dotazníkového šetření bylo zjištěno, že přes polovinu dotazovaných sice považuje za důležité zvýšit počet žen ve vedení, ale jen necelá třetina respondentů je pro zavedení genderových kvót. Se zněním směrnice Evropské Unie nesouhlasí až ¾ dotázaných. Z toho vyplývá, že zavedení genderových kvót v České republice může být v souvislosti s názory ve společnosti složité, a proto by bylo potřeba toto téma lépe komunikovat.

Abstract:

Gender quotas on the labor market are an increasingly common practice. The European Union's new directive introduces a mandatory minimum percentage of women on company boards. However, the issue of gender quotas is still a matter of debate in society. The aim of this bachelor's thesis is to identify and analyze the views of Czech society on gender quotas in managerial positions. A survey data collection and analysis found that over half of the respondents consider it important to increase the number of women in management positions, but just under a third of the respondents favor introducing said gender quotas. Moreover, ¾ of the respondents disagree with the policy of the European Union. This suggests that introducing gender quotas in the Czech Republic may be difficult and therefore the topic should be better communicated.
