Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá problematikou nacionalismu a jeho důrazem kladeným na národní identity. S pojmem nacionalismu pracuje jako s moderním fenoménem, u jehož vzniku stály specifické strukturální podmínky, funkce a změny pojící se s příchodem modernity. Právě podmínkám vzniku nacionalismu věnuje práce zvýšenou pozornost a snaží se definovat hlavní atributy, od nichž se vznik i přetrvávající existence nacionalismu odvíjí. Diplomová práce přitom vychází především z teorií Ernesta Gellnera, který chápe nacionalismu jako bytostně moderní fenomén, jenž dal vzniknout národům a tak i národním identitám. Uvědomuje si přitom specifické sociální procesy, které vytvořily nacionalismu živnou půdu, a zohledňuje společenské změny, bez nichž by se nacionalismus nemohl zrodit ani ustálit jako součást každodenní reality. Stejně tak reflektuje nerovnoměrný proces modernizace a rychlost změn v odlišných částech Evropy a tedy i různou periodizaci vzniku a šíření se nacionalismu v jednotlivých oblastech. Základní tezí diplomové práce je myšlenka, že chceme-li porozumět nacionalismu, musíme nejprve porozumět podmínkám jeho vzniku, které jdou ruku v ruce s jeho hlavními charakteristikami.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis discusses issue of nationalism and his emphasis on national identity. The concept of nationalism is used as a modern phenomenon, at whose formation played a main role specific structural conditions, features, and changes which were bonding with the advent of modernity. The thesis pays close attention to conditions of emergence of nationalism and tries to define the main attributes that underpin the creation and continued existence of nationalism. The thesis is mainly based on the theory of Ernest Gellner, who understands nationalism as a modern phenomenon, which has created nations and national identities as well. He realizes specific social processes that create fertile ground for nationalism, and takes into account social changes, without which nationalism could be born or stabilize as part of everyday reality. Similarly he reflects the irregular process of modernization and speed of change in different parts of the world and therefore different time of emergence and spread of nationalism in various areas. Basic idea of thesis is that if we want to understand to nationalism, we must first understand to the conditions of its formation, which go hand in hand with its main characteristics.
