Vojtěch Hynais: Notes to the issue of Czech Naturalism

Abstract:

Naturalismus ve výtvarném umění se již projevil na tvorbě českých malířů poloviny 19. století. Avšak jako samostatný výtvarný směr v českém umění neexistoval. Problém definice tohoto výtvarného směru souvisí s rychlým vývojem českého výtvarného umění, který začal s nástupem generace Národního divadla. Jedním z malířů této generace byl Vojtěch Hynais, jehož tvorba zůstala zcela neprobádaná. Cílem této práce je definovat tvorbu tohoto malíře skrz analýzu interpretací od kritiků tehdejší doby a spojit jeho dílo s výtvarným naturalismem.

Abstract:

Naturalism in fine arts has already manifested itself in some of the work of Czech painters of the mid-19th century. However, it did not exist as a separate artistic direction in Czech art. The problem of defining this artistic direction is related to the rapid development of Czech fine art, which began with the advent of the National Theater generation. One of the painters of this generation was Vojtěch Hynais, whose work remained not completely explored. The aim of this work is to define the work of this painter through the analysis of interpretations from the contemporary critics of the time and to find connections between his works and naturalism in painting.
