A Profile of the artist Vladimír Merta and his work in the context of Action art of 1970's and 1980's.

Abstract:

Předkládaná práce, Profil výtvarníka Vladimíra Merty a jeho tvorba v kontextu akčního umění 70. a 80. let mapuje tvorbu Vladimíra Merty z několika pohledů. Práce je rozdělena do třech částí, které osvětlují umělcův život, jeho celkovou tvorbu a konkrétní období jeho tvorby, které mělo vztah k akčnímu umění a land artové produkci v tehdejších československých poměrech. Práce je pro přehlednost vybavena obrazovou přílohou, kde je možno najít jednotlivá díla samotnou prací popisovaná. Práce je krokem k lepšímu zachycení doposud nekomplexně popsaného života a práce jednoho z výrazných českých výtvarníků druhé poloviny 20. století.

Abstract:

The presented thesis, The profile of an artist Vladimír Merta and contextualization of his work in action art of 1970's and 1980's, is bringing the complex picture of artist's work from a few points of view. The thesis is divided into three main parts which describe the artist's life, his lifelong work and the specified period of his work, 1970's and 1980's, regard to action art and land art in the Czechoslovakian situation in those days. The thesis, to be clearer, is supplemented by pictures where the pieces of his work described in the thesis can be found. The thesis itself is a step further to have the life of one of the most influenced artists of second half of the 20th century described.
