On the Issue of Women's Emancipation in the Works of Hana Gregorová

Abstract:

The thesis discusses the emancipation efforts of women in the Slovak literature in the first half of the 20th century. It is dedicated to their fight for integration into the public life. It focuses mainly on Hana Gregorová's personality, not only for her literary and journalistic activities, but especially for her contribution to the development of emancipation efforts in Slovakia and for the role in building Czech-Slovak relationships on the basis of personal contacts. We examine who had the major impact on her literary development and her views regarding the status of women in the society. In the second part of the thesis we interpret her core literary works, which fully reflect her position on the women issues, and in particular we focused on the most significant work, Slovak Woman at a Fireplace with a Book. Analysis of female characters in Hana Gregorová's literary prose plays and important role. Their developmental shift and their opinions reflect the attitudes of the author alone.

Abstract:

Diplomová práca rozoberá emancipačné snahy žien v slovenskej literatúre v prvej polovici 20. storočia, venuje sa ich prebojúvaniu do verejného života. Zameriava sa hlavne na osobnosť Hany Gregorovej, a to nielen na jej literárnu a publicistickú činnosť, ale najmä na jej prínos k rozvoju emancipačných snáh na Slovensku a úlohu pri budovaní česko-slovenských vzťahov aj na základe osobných kontaktov. Zisťujeme, kto mal zásadný vplyv na jej literárny vývin a na jej názory v súvislosti s postavením ženy v spoločnosti. V druhej časti práce interpretujeme ťažiskové literárne diela Hany Gregorovej, v ktorých sa plne odrazil jej postoj k ženskej otázke, a osobitne sme sa sústredili na jej najvýznamnejsie dielo Slovenka pri krbe a knihe. Dôležitú úlohu zohráva aj analýza ženských postáv v literárnych prózach Hany Gregorovej, ich vývinový posun a názory odražajúce postoje samotnej autorky.
