Efficiency of education about breastfeeding in health care center in Ústí region

Abstract:

Problematika kojení je jedno z nejrozšířenějších témat k diskuzi. Je zřejmé, že výlučné kojení je nejvhodnější strava pro novorozence a kojence, ale spousty žen má o výlučném kojení neúplné nebo nepřesné informace. Díky této špatné informovanosti jsou pochopitelné obavy žen s případnými problémy. K předcházení problémů je nutná efektivní edukace žen nejen po porodu, ale i v rámci předporodní přípravy. Pro zlepšení kvality edukace v českých, ale i světových porodnicích získávají nemocnice titul "Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative" a "Mother Friendly Childbirth Initiative", neboli nemocnice přívětivé dětem a matkám. Tyto tituly mají napomáhat porodnicím k ochraně, prosazování a podpoře kojení. V teoretické části práce nám byla přiblížena problematika kojení, edukace a výše zmiňovaných titulů. Praktická část zahrnovala analýzu získaných dat ze standardizovaného dotazníku, kterého se zúčastnilo 43 respondentek. Záměrem práce bylo zjištění efektivity edukace v oblasti laktace a péče o prsy na oddělení šestinedělí v Masarykově nemocnici a tím přispět k objasnění faktorů, které se podílejí na nedostatečných znalostech respondentek. Pro zjištění efektivní či neefektivní edukaci byl dotazník rozdán před edukací a po edukaci. Vyhodnocení hypotéz bylo provedeno pomocí kontingenčních tabulek, dvou výběrového T testu a pomocí testu hypotéz o hodnotě statistické významnosti. Z výsledků této práce, ale i z výsledků světových a českých studií, je zřejmé, že pro zlepšení znalostí respondentek je nutná předchozí efektivní a důkladná edukace.

Abstract:

The issue of breastfeeding is one of the most common topics for discussion. It is obvious that exclusive breastfeeding is the best diet for newborns and infants, but a lot of women have incomplete or inaccurate information about exclusive breastfeeding. Due to this misinformation it is understandable that those women, who may face some potential problems, are concerned. In order to prevent these problems, it is necessary to educate the women effectively before childbirth, through prenatal courses, and also after childbirth. To improve the education quality in Czech and world maternity hospitals, hospitals are awarded with the certificates of BFHI and MFCHI, in other words Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative. These certificates should help maternity hospitals to protect, enforce and support breast feeding. In the theoretical part, we were introduced to the issue of breastfeeding, education, and the certificates mentioned above. The aim of this work was to determine the effectiveness of education in lactation and care for breast at the department of confinement in Masaryk Hospital and to clarify the factors which contribute to insufficient knowledge of respondents. To determine the effective or ineffective education, the questionnaire was distributed before and after education. The evaluation of hypothesis was done via using contingency tables, two-sample T-test and via the hypotheses test, using the values of statistical significance. From the results of this work, but also the results of Czech and world studies, it is clear that in order to improve the knowledge of respondents a prior thorough and efficient education is necessary.
