The Historical Image of the Bohemian King Wenceslas II. from the 13th to the 20th Century

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá pohledem na osobnost krále Václava II. z pohledu jak narativních pramenů, tak odborné literatury. V první části práce se zabývám především obecně známými fakty o životě krále Václava II., jeho obraz v dějinách jak fyzický, tak mediální. V části druhé, se zaměřuji více na problematiku pohledu na jeho život hlavně v souvislosti se Zbraslavskou kronikou jako hlavním, leč málo objektivním pramenem. Práce je zakončena jakýmsi hodnocením Václavovy vlády a osudem jeho syna ? pokračovatele rodu, Václava III. a jeho osudem.

Abstract:

This barchelor thesis concentrates on the king Wenceslas II. and his personality from the view of narrative sources and scientific literature. In the first part of the thesis I concentrate mostly on the generally known facts about the life of king Wenceslas II., his historical image both real and that of the media. In the second part I focus more on the issues connected with the Zbraslav chronicle as main but not so much objective source. The thesis is concluded with the evaluation of Vaclav´s reign and the destiny of his son and successor of his lineage, Wenceslas III.
