Distributivity, quantifiers and the interpretation of noun phrases in natural language: experimental acquisition study

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá problematikou akvizice distributivity, kvantifikátorů a nominálních frází v českém jazyce. Cílem práce je zjistit, v jakém věku se u českých dětí objevuje obligatorní distributivní interpretace univerzálního kvantifikátoru každý. V rámci teoretické části jsou představena základní teoretická východiska osvojování mateřského jazyka společně se stěžejními experimentálně akvizičními zahraničními studiemi, které byly základem pro vlastní výzkum. Součástí praktické části je experiment, jehož cílem je zjištění proměnlivosti preferenčních interpretací u dětí v závislosti na věku.

Abstract:

This master's thesis focuses on the acquisition of distributivity, quantifiers, and nominal phrases in the Czech language. The aim of this study is to determine at what age obligatory distributive interpretations of the universal quantifier each ´každý´ emerge in Czech children. The theoretical part introduces the basic theoretical foundations of first language acquisition and key experimental acquisition studies from abroad, which serve as the basis for the current research. The practical part includes an experiment to examine the variability of preference interpretations in children based on their age.
