Belt and Road Initiative and its impact on the relations between the Czech Republic and China

Abstract:

Tato práce řeší Novou hedvábnou stezku a její vliv na vztahy mezi Českou republikou a Čínou. V rámci jednotlivých kapitol je představena samotná iniciativa s detailnějším zaměřením na Nový euroasijský pozemní most včetně specifikace vlivu na vztahy mezi Českou republikou a Čínou. Cílem práce je stanovit možné příležitosti a hrozby v ekonomické rovině plynoucí z propojenosti Číny a České republiky. Práce obsahuje analýzu obchodní a investiční výměny v letech 2014-2020. Pro zpracování příležitostí a hrozeb je použita SWOT analýza, z obdržených výsledků je na základě syntézy a dedukce sestaven odhad budoucího vývoje se speciálním zaměřením na automobilový, ocelářský a dřevozpracovatelský průmysl. Výsledkem analýzy je zjištění, že projekt Nové hedvábné stezky není v ekonomické rovině oboustranně prospěšný a Česká republika z něj neprofituje tolik, jako Čína.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis addresses the Belt and Road Initiative and its impact on the relations between the Czech Republic and China. Within the chapters there is the initiative presented with a more detailed focus on the New Eurasian Land Bridge, including the specification of the impact on relations between the Czech Republic and China. The aim of the work is to determine the possible opportunities and threats in the economic level resulting from connection of both countries. The thesis contains an analysis of trade and investment exchanges in the years 2014-2020. In order to process the opportunities and threats a SWOT analysis is used and out of the obtained results an estimate of the future development is done based on the synthesis and deduction, with a special focus on the automotive, steel and wood processing industries. The result of the analysis is the finding that the Belt and Road Initiative is not mutually beneficial on the economic level and the Czech Republic doesn’t benefit from it as much as China does.
