The Dual Role of Artificial Intelligence in Cybersecurity: Opportunities and Threats

Anotace:

Práce „Dvojí role umělé inteligence v oblasti kybernetické bezpečnosti: příležitosti a hrozby“ se zabývá komplexním pohledem na využití umělé inteligence (AI) v kybernetickém prostoru. Cílem práce je analyzovat dvojí povahu této technologie – její potenciál posilovat bezpečnostní mechanismy na jedné straně a zároveň vytvářet nové hrozby a zranitelnosti na straně druhé. Teoretická část se zaměřuje na vymezení základních pojmů, popis principů fungování umělé inteligence a jejího uplatnění v oblasti kybernetické bezpečnosti. Analytická část pak přináší náhled na konkrétní problematiku hrozeb spojených s aplikací umělé inteligence a zabývá se jejich dopady na současné bezpečnostní prostředí. Tato část je současně doplněna strukturovanými rozhovory vedenými s experty v oboru, které přispějí k hlubšímu porozumění zkoumané problematiky. Výzkumná otázka: Jaké konkrétní příležitosti a jaká nová rizika přináší použití umělé inteligence v oblasti kybernetické bezpečnosti?

Abstract:

The thesis “The Dual Role of Artificial Intelligence in Cybersecurity: Opportunities and Threats” examines a comprehensive perspective on the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in cyberspace. The aim of the thesis is to analyze the dual nature of this technology – its potential to strengthen security mechanisms on the one hand, while simultaneously creating new threats and vulnerabilities on the other. The theoretical part focuses on defining key concepts, describing the principles of artificial intelligence, and its application in the field of cybersecurity. The analytical part provides insight into specific issues related to threats associated with the application of artificial intelligence and examines their impact on the current security environment. This section is complemented by structured interviews conducted with experts in the field, which contribute to a deeper understanding of the examined topic. Research question: What specific opportunities and what new risks does the use of artificial intelligence bring to the field of cybersecurity?
