Female artist at the leadership of free art studios at higher education institutions in the Czech Republic after 1989

Abstract:

Diplomová práce Ženy-umělkyně na pozicích vedoucích ateliérů volných umění na vysokých školách v ČR po roce 1989 se zabývá vstupem žen, především umělkyň, na půdu uměleckých vysokých škol od začátku 90. let do současnosti. Úvod práce vytváří teoretický vhled do problematiky a analyzuje vstup žen do uměleckého prostředí, zakládání ženských spolků a možnosti vzdělávání žen v 19. a 20. století. Další část mapuje genderovou situaci a rozložení žen a mužů na českých uměleckých školách v 80. letech, zabývá se obecnou charakteristikou politické a sociální situace v revolučních a porevolučních letech a dobovými kontexty souvisejícími s pojmy feminismus, gender art a ženské umění. Stěžejní částí práce je kapitola čerpající ze čtrnácti vlastních rozhovorů s pedagožkami vysokých uměleckých škol, jejímž cílem je porovnání a hledání paralel či rozdílů mezi jednotlivými pedagogickými přístupy a také analýza konkrétních problémů s nimiž se ženy během své pedagogické činnosti setkávaly či setkávají.

Abstract:

Diploma thesis Female artists in leading positions of fine art studios at universities in Czech Republic after the year 1989 follows up female artists entering the art universities. The thesis maps this process all the way from the start of the 90's to the recent days. The introduction explains the basic theory behind the topic and analyses the women's entry into the artistic environment, establishing of the women's clubs and possible ways of educations for women during the 19th and the 20th centuries. The next part speaks about the gender situation and gender distribution at Czech art schools in the 80's and describes the political and social situation during the revolutionary year 1989 and also explains concepts like feminism, gender art and female art. The crucial part of the thesis is the chapter based on 14 interviews with female art universities teachers. This chapter talks about the differencies and paralels between the various pedagogical approaches and tries to examine specific problems (past or recent), which have been described by the female teachers during the interviews.
