On Synonymous Ranges: A Case Study
Abstract:
Tato bakalářská práce je zaměřená na popis sémantického vztahu mezi anglickými adjektivy „precious“ a „valuable.“ Tato adjektiva jsou dle slovníkových definic označena jako synonyma, a tato práce se zabývá mírou synonymie mezi nimi. K výzkumu je použito jazykových korpusů British National Corpus a Corpus of Contemporary American English.
Abstract:
This bachelor's thesis focuses on the description of the semantic relation between the English adjectives "precious" and "valuable." These adjectives are declared synonymous by dictionary definition and this thesis deals with the level of synonymy that truly exists between them. British National Corpus and Corpus of Contemporary American English is used for the research in this thesis.
