Hypocoristic Forms of Masculine Given Names in Written Communication (on the Material of the Czech National Corpus)

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá hypokoristickými podobami mužských rodných jmen. Dosud byla hypokoristika zkoumána pomocí dotazníků, rozhovorů a na materiále Korpusu soukromé korespondence, který obsahuje osobní dopisy. Cílem této práce je vyhledat podoby mužských hypokoristik v psaných textech zahrnutých v Českém národním korpusu a analyzovat četnost jednotlivých podob. Materiálovými východisky našeho výzkumu se stal soubor vybraných mužských rodných jmen získaných ze stolního kalendáře na rok 2023, korpus SYN2020 a z něj vytvořený subkorpus, v němž bylo hledání omezeno na beletrii a texty psané v českém jazyce. Výsledky výzkumu obsahují u každého rodného jména podoby dotazů, které byly užity k vyhledání hypokoristik, dále absolutní frekvence každého hypokoristika a typy textů, v nichž se v subkorpusu dané hypokoristikum vyskytovalo.

Abstract:

The thesis deals with hypocoristic forms of masculine given names. So far, hypocorisms have been investigated by means of questionnaires, interviews, and on the material of the Corpus of Private Correspondence, which contains personal letters. The aim of this thesis is to search for forms of male hypocorisms in written texts included in the Czech National Corpus and to analyse the frequency of each form. The material base of our research was a set of selected masculine given names obtained from the desk calendar for the year 2023, the SYN2020 corpus, and a subcorpus created from it, in which the search was limited to belles-lettres and texts written in the Czech language. The results of the research include, for each given name, the forms of queries that were used to find the hypocorism, as well as the absolute frequencies of each hypocorism and the types of texts in which the hypocorism occurred in the subcorpus.
