Intergenerational meetings of preschool children and seniors from senior care facility

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá mezigeneračním setkáváním, které probíhá mezi dvěma generacemi, a to skupinou předškolních dětí z mateřské školy a seniory, kteří žijí v pobytovém zařízení v domově pro seniory. Hlavním cílem mé bakalářské práce je zjistit, jak probíhají jednotlivá mezigenerační setkání a jaké přínosy přinášejí seniorům. Práce se skládá ze dvou částí – teoretické a empirické. V teoretické části, která je rozdělena do čtyř kapitol se věnuji základním pojmům dané problematiky. V první kapitole se věnuji definici mezigeneračního učení. Ve druhé kapitole se zabývám první skupinou, a to jsou předškolní děti. Třetí kapitola pojednává o problematice stáří a seniorů v pobytovém zařízení. Čtvrtá kapitola se věnuje mezigeneračnímu setkávání a mezigeneračním programům. Praktická část pomocí kvalitativního výzkumu zjišťuje, jaké názory vyjadřují senioři a sociální pracovnice na průběh setkávání a jaké přínosy vnímají v rámci mezigeneračních setkání. Dále se výzkum zaměřil na popis konkrétních setkání, které proběhly v domově pro seniory. Výzkum ukázal, že tyto setkání byly přijaty s nadšením a zájmem pokračovat společně v dalších aktivitách.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis explores intergenerational encounters between two generations: a group of preschool children from a kindergarten and seniors who live in a senior care home. The main objective of my bachelor thesis is to examine the dynamics of these intergenerational encounters and the benefits they bring to seniors. The thesis consists of two parts – theoretical and empirical. In the theoretical part, which is divided into four chapters, the focus is on fundamental concepts of the issue at hand. The first chap-ter focuses on defining intergenerational learning. The second chapter focuses on the first group, preschool children. The third chapter discusses aging and seniors in a resi-dential care home. The fourth chapter examines intergenerational encounters and pro-grams. Through qualitative research, the empirical part investigates the perspectives of seniors and social workers on these encounters and the perceived benefits of intergen-erational meetings. Furthermore, the research provides a description of specific en-counters that took place in the senior care home. The findings indicate that these en-counters were met with enthusiasm and with interest in continuation of these activities.
