The role of social work in the early care of a child up to 8 years of age

Abstract:

Tato práce se zabývá rolí sociální práce v systému sociálních služeb ve včasné péči o dítě ve věku od narození do 8 let věku. Zaměřuje se na včasnou péči u dětí, které vyrůstají s rodiči doma v sociálně slabém, nepodnětném prostředí. Jedná se o děti, které jsou ohrožené v přirozeném vývoji, sociálně vyloučené nebo jsou sociálním vyloučením ohrožené. Sociální práce a sociální služby jsou jedním z nástrojů sociálního začleňování, uplatňování práv a rovného přístupu. Otázkou je, jaká je role sociální práce ve včasné péči. První část se zaměřuje na jevy a situace ovlivňující školní úspěšnost dítěte a jeho sociální začlenění. Druhá část se věnuje sociální práci a sociálním službám, jak služby mohou podpořit dítě do 8 let věku v přirozeném vývoji, v učení se a ve stabilizaci nepříznivé sociální situace. Integraci dítěte, jeho školní úspěšnost a jeho životní trajektorii nejvýznamněji ovlivňuje destabilizující chudoba rodiny a schopnost rodičů podporovat dítě v přirozeném vývoji a ve vzdělávání. Soubor problémů rodiny souvisejících s chudobou je mnohovrstevnatý, dospělí jsou často přetíženi. To může vést k jejich rezignaci a vymizení snahy cokoli řešit. Sami rodiče často vyrůstali v nestabilním a nepodnětném prostředí. Zvyšování tlaku a požadavků nepomáhá. Péče o dítě a podpora jeho přirozeného vývoje, jeho vzdělávání nejsou většinou jejich záměrem. Často nemají dostatek kompetencí, kapacity, motivace, pozornosti a sil. V minulosti už tolikrát selhali, byli vystaveni negativnímu hodnocení. Je jim opakováno, co musí a nesmí udělat. S tím neumí pracovat (plánovat, rozdělit úkoly na menší části, vybrat to důležité apod.). Setrvávají v chování, které je pro ně známé. Nejsou schopní využívat jim dostupné zdroje a dovednosti, plnit povinnosti a hájit svá práva. Sociální pracovníci v sociálních službách jsou schopni pomoci rodině s destabilizující chudobou a lepším zvládáním péče o dítě. Také jim dokáží pomoci s komunikací se školou a institucemi, případně je zapojit do širší sítě pomoci. Omezující je jejich kapacita a nemožnost pracovat s dítětem do 6 let samostatně.

Abstract:

The thesis explores the role of social work in the social services system in the early care for children from birth to 8 years of age. It focuses on early care for children growing up at home with parents in socially disadvantaged and unstimulating environments. These are children whose natural development is at risk, are socially excluded or are at risk of social exclusion. Social work and social services are tools for social inclusion, the application of rights and equal treatment. The question is what the role of social work in early care is. The first part focuses on phenomena and situations influencing academic success of a child and social inclusion. The second part addresses social work and social services, how services can support children up to 8 years of age in natural development, learning and stabilizing unfavorable social situations. The integration of a child, their academic success, and their life trajectory are most significantly influenced by the destabilizing family poverty and ability of parents to support the child in natural development and education. The set of family problems related to poverty is multifaceted, adults are often overwhelmed. This can lead to their resignation and the disappearance of any effort to solve anything. Parents themselves often grew up in unstable and unstimulating environments. Increase in pressure and demands does not help. Childcare and support for their natural development and education are usually not their intention. They often lack the necessary competencies, capacities, motivation, attention, and strength. In the past, they have often failed, have been subjected to negative evaluations. They are told repeatedly what they must and must not do. They cannot deal with that (planning, dividing tasks into smaller parts, selecting the important ones, etc.). They persist in behavior that is familiar to them. They are unable to use the resources and skills available to them, fulfill their obligations, and defend their rights. Social workers in social services can help families with destabilizing poverty and better childcare. They can also assist them in communicating with schools and institutions or involve them in a wider network of assistance. What is limiting is their capacity, and the inability to work independently with children under 6 years old.
