Brane and String Physics

Abstract:

Obsahem této práce je souhrn studia D0-brán, jenž patří k fundamentálním objektům strunové teorie. Prvotním impulsem byl článek zabývající se jejich chováním při nízkýchch energiích pouze v plochém prostoru. Zde zopakujeme odvození Hamiltoniánu, na který poté aplikujeme numerickou metodu k nalezení základního stavu. Dalším přirozeným krokem je studium zakřiveného superprostoru, kde mohou D0-brány netriviálně interagovat s pozaďovými poli. V té době ještě nebyl znám supersymetrický popis této nejobecnější konfigurace při nízkých energiích a proto jsme se o něj chtěli pokusit. Mezitím řešení tohoto problému bylo zveřejněno a to bylo důvodem k zastavení našeho odvozování. Uspořádání práce nerespektuje časovou posloupnost našich jednotlivých kroků při studiu. Začneme krátkým shrnutím řešení problému a poté uvidíme jak tyto výsledky odpovídají našemu výchozímu Hamiltoniánu. Tímto postupem chceme docílit hlubšího pochopení dané problematiky.

Abstract:

We review the work done on the D0-branes which are fundamental objects of the string theory. The starting point of this study was inspired by the paper which is focused on their low-energy limit in flat space. We repeat the derivation of the Hamiltonian on which we apply a numerical to find a ground-state wave function. A natural next step is to explore curved superspace where the D0-branes can interact with the supergravity background fields in a non trivial way. There were no supersymmetric description at the low-energy limit of this most general configuration thus we wanted to attempt to create it. Meanwhile the solution of this problem is published and we halted our derivation. The presentation in this thesis is not chronological. We begin with a summary of the problem solution and then we see how its result corresponds to the our initial Hamiltonian. The purpose of this approach is to give a deeper understanding of the whole picture.
