Abstract:

Tato práce řeší problematiku digitální propasti, která souvisí s přechodem z postindustrální společnosti ve společnost informační. Informační společnost je mimo jiné charakterizována obrovskou kumulací informací. Distribuce informací se výrazně proměnila s příchodem internetu, který dramaticky proměnil organizaci společnnosti. Digitální propast představuje fenomén, který souvisí právě s jeho šířením. Cílem práce je ukázat komplexnost problematiky digitální propasti, kdy rozlišujeme digitální propast na úrovni přístupu k IKT (informační a komunikační technologie), tedy tzv. primární digitální propast. Dále na úrovni rozdílů v uživatelských znalostech a schopnosti tyto znalosti využít ve svůj prospěch - sekundární digitální propast. A poslední úroveň se týká adaptace IKT ve společnosti,přesněji jak je tato adaptace ovlivněna kulturními hodnotami, věděním, politikou a ekonomikou. Všechny tři dimenze se vzájemně ovlivňují, proto je při efektivním zužování digitální propasti vhodné tyto dimenze zohlednit. Ve výzkumné části provádím za pomoci dat ČSÚ, polostrukturovaných rozhovorů a rešerše literatury, analýzu všech třech dimenzí digitální propasti v České Republice.

Abstract:

In this thesis I am concerned with the topic of Digital Divide that is related to the transformation of the post-industrial society into information society. Information society is among other characteristics defined by a great number of information. The distribution of information dramatically changed with the arrival of internet. The digital divide is a phenomenon that is related to the spread of internet connection. The aim of my thesis is to show the complexity of digital divide issue, while we divide digital divide into three dimensions, the first one - primary digital divide, is based on the access to ICT (information and communication technologies). The second one, secondary digital divide, is based on the differences in user knowledge and the ability to use these in one´s benefit. The last dimension, tertiary digital divide, is related to the adaptation of ICT in the society, the influence of cultural values, knowledge, politics and economics. All three dimensions influence one another, and that is why it is essential to take them into account when exploring and describing the digital divide. In the research part of my thesis I analyse all the previously mentioned three dimensions in the Czech Republic using data from Czech Statistical Office, semi-structured interviews and literature research.
