The aim of this bachelor thesis is to find, identify and demonstrate connections between the British Empire as the former colonial world power and New Zealand. The thesis deals with the impact of the interaction of the colonists and the indigenous Maori people as well as the influence of original home country on the settlers. Cílem této bakalářské práce je najít, identifikovat a ukázat souvislosti mezi Britským impériem, jakožto bývalou koloniální velmocí a Novým Zélandem. Úkolem práce je demonstrovat dopad vzájemného působení britských osadníků a původních maorských obyvatel, stejně jako vliv, který na osadníky měla země jejich původu.
