The Decanal Church of the Assumption of Virgin Mary in Moravska Trebova. The Painting and Sculptural Decorations.

Abstract:

Kostel byl po ničivém požáru 1726 přestavn v raně barokním stylu architektem Antoniem Maria Nicolao Beduzzim (1675 - 1735), který zřejmě využil starších plánů Domenika Martinelliho. K výzdobě interiéru se dochovaly jen návrhy hlavního oltáře vytvořené Vincenzem Fantim (1719 - 1776), italským malířem v liechtensteinských službách. Freskovou výzdobu provedel v letech 1765 - 1771 Juda Tadeáš Supper (1712 - 1771), v té době již úspěšný malíř iluzívních architektur (Sedlec, Tatenice, Slatiny u Jičína, Uherské Hradiště, Moravská Třebová). Nejprve vyzdobil kaple sv. Aloisia a Vincence scénami z jejich života (1765 - 1767), posléze presbytář, kde vymaloval scény Ester korunovaná Ahašverem, Betsabé ped Šalamounem na bočních zdech a scénu Boha Otce s proroky a svtci na stropě. Součástí scén je působivá iluzívní architektura. Supper je představitelem konzervativního proudu moravského malířství, v jeho díle se odrážejí vlivy tvorby Handkeho, se kterým jej mimo jiné spojuje orientace na české malířství 1. pol. 18. století (Brandl, Reiner). Sochařství 1. poloviny 18. století reprezentuje trojice v Moravské Třebové usazených a často spolupracujících sochařů: Jiří František Pacák (kol. roku 1670 - 1742), Severin Tischler (1705 1743) a František Josef Seitl (1704 - 1763). V jejich díle doznívá monumentální berniniovský styl Matyáše Bernarda Brauna v severovýchodních Čechách a na českomoravském pomezí. Na základě stylové analýzy vznikl boční oltář sv. Kříže za spolupráce Pacáka s Tischlerem. Na kazatelně a oltáři sv. Jana Nepomuckého je patrná Seitlova pomocná ruka. Tvorbu olomouckého sochaře Jana Kammereita (1715 - 1769) reprezentují sochy bončích oltářů sv. Aloisia a Vincence a figurální složka hlavního oltáře.

Abstract:

After a devastating fire in 1726, the church was rebuilt in the early baroque style by architect Antonio Maria Nicolao Beduzzi (1675-1735) who probably used earlier plans by Domenico Martinelli. Only drafts for the high altar were preserved from the interior decoration of the church, by Vincenzo Fanti (1719-1776), an Italian painter in the service of Liechtenstein. The fresco decoration was carried out in 17651771 by Juda Tadeas Supper (1712-1771), then a successful painter of quadratura (Sedlec, Tatenice, Moravska Trebova etc.). At first he decorated the Chapels of St Aloisius and St Vincent with scenes from their lives (1765-1767), later he decorated the presbytery, where he painted the scenes of Esther being crowned by Assuerus, Bath Sheba before Solomon on the side walls and a scene of God the Father with prophets and saints on the ceiling. The scenes incorporate impressive illusive architecture. Supper is a representative of the conservative stream of Moravian painting, and his work reflects the influence of Handke with whom he also shares, besides others, an inclination towards the Czech painting of the first half of the 18th century (Brandl, Reiner). The sculpture of the first half of the 18th century is represented by a trinity of Moravska-Trebova-based and frequently collaborating sculptors: Jiri Frantisek Pacak (around 1670-1742), Severin Tischler (1705-1743) and Frantisek Josef Seitl (1704-1763). Their work belongs to the receding monumental style of Matyas Bernard Braun from north-eastern Bohemia and the Czech/Moravian border areas. Based on analysis of the style, the side altar of the Holy Cross was built in collaboration with Pacak and Tischler. Seitl s assistance can be seen in the pulpit and on the altar of St Jan Nepomucky. The work of sculptor Jan Kammereit (1715-1769) is represented by the sculptures on the side altars of St Aloisius and Vincent, and the figuration on the high altar.
