Literary Anthroponyms in Selected Prose by Ladislav Fuks

Abstract:

Předkládaná bakalářská práce se zabývá onymickým systémem literárních postav ve vybraných prózách z období rané tvorby spisovatele Ladislava Fukse, které jsou svým literárním přínosem považovány za stěžejní. Konkrétně se jedná o spisovatelův debut Pan Theodor Mundstock (1963), přelomovou novelu Spalovač mrtvol (1967) a antiutopický román Myši Natálie Mooshabrové (1970), který toto období, vyznačující se spíše válečnými prózami, svou atypičností symbolicky uzavírá. Práce nejprve předkládá teoretický rámec literární onomastiky včetně nejčastějších metod užívaných při analýze vlastních jmen v literatuře. V druhé části práce jsou tyto poznatky postupně aplikovány na konkrétní literární texty za použití funkčních a literárně-komunikačních přístupů. Výsledná analýza nalézá určité podobnosti mezi onymickými systémy předkládaných textů. Cílem této bakalářské práce je analyzovat autorův osobitý způsob výstavby vlastních jmen ve vybraných textech a tyto poznatky mezi sebou následně porovnat a vyhodnotit.

Abstract:

The present bachelor thesis deals with the onymic system of literary characters in selected novels from the period of the early work of the writer Ladislav Fuks, which are considered to be pivotal in their literary contribution. In particular, the writer's debut Mr. Theodore Mundstock (1963), the groundbreaking novel The Cremator (1967) and the anti-utopian novel Of Mice and Mooshaber (1970), which symbolically closes this period, characterised mainly by war novels, with its atypicality. The thesis first presents the theoretical basis of literary onomastics, including the most common methods used in the analysis of proper names in literature. In the work's second part, these findings are gradually applied to specific literary texts using functional and literary-communicative approaches. The resulting analysis finds similarities between the onymic systems of the submitted texts. This bachelor's thesis aims to analyse the author's distinctive way of constructing proper names in the selected works and then to compare and evaluate these findings with each other.
