Living with alcohol addiction

Abstract:

Cíl: Hlavním cílem výzkumu je získat jedinečný pohled na zkušenosti pacientů, kteří jsou závislí na alkoholu a porozumět tomu, co prožívají v souvislosti se svou závislostí. Metodika: Data byla získávána formou polostrukturovaného rozhovoru a analyzována pomocí interpretativní fenomenologické analýzy. Soubor, sestavený záměrným výběrem, tvořilo 6 pacientů starších 18 let s diagnózou poruchy chování způsobené užíváním alkoholu (syndrom závislosti). Jednalo se o 3 ženy a 3 muže, kteří se nacházeli v různých stádiích závislosti, byli hospitalizovaní v lůžkovém zdravotnickém zařízení a byli ochotni se do výzkumu zapojit. Výsledky: V kontextu se stanovenými cíli byla shromážděná data seřazena do čtyř hlavních kategorií, které mapují život s alkoholovou závislostí od dětství až po současnost. Na základě těchto kategorií byly stanoveny subkategorie, které mapují zkušenosti, prožívání a dopady na participanty a jejich okolí v jednotlivých kategoriích. Závěr: Porozumění subjektivním prožitkům a zkušenostem jednotlivých participantů přispívá k hlubšímu pochopení složitého a komplexního problému, jakým je závislost na alkoholu.

Abstract:

Objective: The main goal of the research is to gain a unique perspective on the experiences of patients who are addicted to alcohol and to understand what they experience in connection with their addiction. Methodology: Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and analyzed using interpretive phenomenological analysis. The sample, which was selected by purposeful selection, consisted of 6 patients over 18 years of age with a diagnosis of alcohol-related behavioral disorder (dependence syndrome). They were 3 women and 3 men, who were in various stages of addiction, hospitalized in an inpatient medical facility, and were willing to participate in the research. Results: In the context of the set goals, the collected data was sorted into four main categories that map life with alcohol addiction from childhood to the present. Based on these categories, subcategories were determined that map the experiences, experiences and impacts on the participants and their environment in each category. Conclusion: Understanding the subjective experiences of individual participants contributes to a deeper comprehension of the complex problem of alcohol addiction.
