Impact of Commuting on Life Satisfaction of the Citizens of Ústí nad Labem

Abstract:

Cílem této práce bylo prozkoumat vztah mezi životní spokojeností a dojížděním u občanů Ústí nad Labem. Zdrojem byla data získaná z dotazníkového šetření. Typy dojíždění byly rozčleněny do šesti kategorií: autobus, vlak, auto, motorka, kolo a chůze. Byl zkoumán vztah životní spokojenosti a dojíždění těmito způsoby. Pro nalezení vztahu mezi proměnnými byl použit regresní model LOGIT. Vytvořeny byly tři dvojice modelů - rozdělení dle pohlaví, dle věku a dle počtu dětí. Bylo nalezeno několik pozitivních i kvadratických vztahů mezi životní spokojeností a dojížděním. Nejsilnější vztahy se štěstím byly nalezeny u chůze v modelu pro ženy (pozitivní), v modelu věkové kategorie nad 36 let a u respondentů s dětmi (kvadratický). Zároveň byl nalezen kvadratický vztah dojíždění vlakem se životní spokojeností objevující se v modelu nad 36 let a v modelu s dětmi. Spojitost mezi životní spokojeností a dojíždění autem, motorkou a na kole nebyla prokázána.

Abstract:

The aim of this thesis was to examine the relationship between life satisfaction and commuting of citizens in Ústí nad Labem. The data source was obtained from a questionnaire survey. Types of commuting were separated into six categories: bus, train, car, motorbike, bicycle and walking. The relationship between life satisfaction and commuting was investigated by these ways. The LOGIT regression model was used to find the relationship between the variables. Three pairs of models were constructed: division by gender, age and number of children. Several positive and quadratic relationships have been found between life satisfaction and commuting. The strongest relationship found with happiness was walking in the model for women (positive), in the model of the age category over 36 years and in respondents with children (quadratic). Simultaneously, the qudratic relationship between the train and life satisfaction was found, appearing in the model over 36 years of age and in the model with children. The connection between life satisfaction and commuting by car, motorcycle and bicycle has not been proven.
