Translation and stylistic analysis of an essay "Romans, sondes existentielles" and "Le rêve de l'héritage intégral" by Milan Kundera -

Abstract:

The diploma thesis dealing with the translation of Milan Kundera’s two essays consists of three main parts. The aim of the first part is to translate essays Romans, sondes existentielles and Le rêve de l’héritage intégral into Czech. These essays are part of the collection Encounter of this Czech-French writer. The second part is based on the translation analysis of these two essays. We deal primarily with the "translation" of colons and semicolons, participles and also with the translation of proper names coming from the third language. In this place we also mention concrete use of the particular translation methods that are defined in the theoretical part at the beginning of the work. In the last part of the thesis we compare our translation with the translation by Milan Kundera. We compare the translations of the titles of essays, sentence structure, word ordre and other specific features of both translations.

Abstract:

Diplomová práce zaměřená na překlad dvou esejů Milana Kundery se skládá ze tří hlavních částí. Cílem první části je přeložit do češtiny eseje Romans, sondes existentielles a Le rêve de l’héritage intégral z esejistické sbírky Setkání tohoto česko-francouzského spisovatele. Druhá část je založena na překladatelské analýze těchto dvou textů. Zabýváme se především „překladem“ dvojteček a středníků, přechodníků a participií a také překladem vlastních jmen ze třetího jazyka. Zde také uvádíme konkrétní uplatnění jednotlivých překladatelských postupů, které jsou definovány v teoretické části na začátku práce. V poslední části práce porovnáváme náš překlad s autorským překladem Milana Kundery. Porovnáváme překlady názvů esejů, větnou strukturu, pořádek slov ve větách a další specifické jevy obou překladů.
