Comparison of results of optical and instrumental methods of phase analysis of cement clinker

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá instrumentálními a optickými metodami kvantitativní analýzy mineralogického složení portlandského slínku. Optické metody analýzy pomocí bodové planimetrie a analýzy obrazu byly zkoumány jako metody alternativní, poskytující dostatečně přesné výsledky. Metody leptání zalevaných, leštěných nábrusů potvrdily nevýhodnost kapalinových metod a naopak ukázaly výhodnost leptání pomocí par kyseliny octové nebo fluorovodíkové. Analýza digitálního obrazu, pracující s upravenými RGB hodnotami je metoda univerzální, která může najít uplatnění i při kvantifikaci minerálů jiných horninových vzorků, které lze barevně odlišit. Zpracováním celého RGB prostoru lze dosáhnout rozlišení až 30-ti minerálních fázi. Leptání leštěných vzorků hornim pomocí par kyseliny fluorovodíkové je z pozorování vhodné a vyhovující. Ramanova spektroskopie poskytuje kvalitativní studium minerálních fází slínku včetně produktů přeměny primárních minerálů, ale kvantifikace minerálních fází je problematická. Prášková rentgenová difraktometrie s kvantifikací minerálních fází pomocí Rietveldovy metody poskytuje rychlé a spolehlivé výsledky stanovení minerálních fází slínku.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis deals with instrumental and optical methods of quantitative analysis of mineralogical composition of Portland clinker. Optical methods of point analysis and image analysis were examined as alternative methods, providing sufficiently accurate results. Methods of etching of polished, polished nodules confirmed the disadvantage of liquid methods and, on the contrary, showed the advantage of etching with acetic or hydrofluoric acid. Digital image analysis, working with modified RGB values, is a universal method that can be used to quantify minerals of other rock samples that can be distinguished by color. By processing the entire RGB space, resolution of up to 30 mineral phases can be achieved. Etching of polished specimens with hydrofluoric acid vapors is appropriate and satisfactory. Raman spectroscopy provides a qualitative study of mineral phases of the clinker, including the products of the conversion of primary minerals, but quantification of mineral phases is problematic. Powder X-ray diffractometry with mineral phase quantification using the Rietveld method provides fast and reliable results for determination of mineral phases of the clinker.
