Assessment of the risk of pressure ulcers in the elderly

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce je zaměřena na hodnocení rizika vzniku dekubitů u seniorů v nemocničním zařízení z pohledu sestry. Cíle a průzkumné otázky této práce se zaměřují na způsob, kterým sestry získávají informace potřebné k posouzení rizika vzniku dekubitů u pacientů, na postupy, které si u těchto pacientů stanoví, jak hodnotící škály vyhodnocují a zda se ve výsledném riziku mezi sebou liší či ne. K dosažení cílů a průzkumných otázek byla použita metoda kvalitativního sběru dat, formou vytvořeného formuláře a polostrukturovaného rozhovoru. Výsledky hodnotících škál ukazují, že sestrám se lépe pracuje s modifikovanou škálou dle Nortonové, jelikož ji více znají. Průměrný čas byl u škály Bradenové 2,59 minut, což mohlo být ovlivněno její neznalostí u většiny sester. Průměrný čas u modifikované škály Nortonové byl 2,15 minut, tuto škálu všechny sestry znaly. Shoda v jednotlivých položkách byla pouze u věku a stavu vědomí. V celkovém vyhodnocení rizika se sestry shodly pouze u jednoho pacienta.

Abstract:

The bachelor's thesis is focused on the assessment of the risk of pressure ulcers in the elderly in a hospital facility from the nurse's point of view. The objectives and exploratory questions of this thesis focus on the way in which nurses obtain the information needed to assess the risk of pressure ulcers in patients, on the procedures they determine for these patients, how they evaluate the rating scales and whether or not they differ in the resulting risk. To achieve the goals and research questions, a qualitative data collection method was used, in the form of a created form and a semi-structured interview. The results of the rating scales show that nurses work better with the modified scale according to Norton, because they are more familiar with it. The average time was 2.59 minutes for the Braden scale, which may have been influenced by its unfamiliarity with most nurses. The average time for the modified Norton scale was 2.15 minutes, all nurses knew this scale. The agreement in individual items was only for age and state of consciousness. The nurses agreed on the overall risk assessment for only one patient.
