Possibilities of Removing Communication Barriers of Individuals with Severe Hearing Disabilities

Abstract:

Diplomová práce pojednává o bariérách v komunikaci mezi jedinci se sluchovým postižením a intaktní společností, a o možnostech, jak tuto komunikační bariéru zmírnit. Cílem práce bylo zjistit, jaké jsou možnosti odstranění této bariéry z pohledu různých účastníků komunikace. Na základě zjištění byly stanoveny vhodné možnosti vedoucí ke zlepšení stavu v této oblasti. Diplomová práce sestává z části teoretické a praktické. V teoretické části je objasněna základní terminologie a klasifikace ve vztahu ke sluchovému postižení, pojem komunikace, ontogenze lidské řeči a komunikace s jedincem se sluchovým postižením. Praktická část diplomové práce je zaměřena na hledání komunikačních bariér jedinců se sluchovým postižením v komunikaci s intaktní společností a možnosti zmírnění či jejich odstranění. Realizovaný výzkum popisuje názory pedagogů pracujících s dětmi se sluchovým postižením, jedinců se sluchovým postižením a intaktní společnosti. Výsledky realizovaného výzkumu ukazují, že všichni účastníci komunikace vnímají mezi sebou komunikační bariéry, velký význam přikládají nedostatečné informovanosti ze strany institucí.

Abstract:

Thesis deals with barriers in communication between individuals with hearing impairment, intact society and about possibilities of reducing this communication barrier. The aim of this thesis was to find out the possibilities of removing this barrier from the point of view of various participants in the communication. Based on the findings, appropriate measures had been identified to improve the situation in this area. Thesis is composed by theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part explains the basic terminology and classification in relation to hearing impairment, the notion of communication, the ontogeny of human speech and communication with the individual with hearing impairment. The practical part of the diploma thesis is focused on searching for communication barriers of individuals with hearing impairment in communication with intact society and possibilities of mitigation or elimination. The conducted research describes the opinions of teachers working with children with the hearing impairment, hearing impaired people and intact society. The results of this research show that all communication participants perceive communication barriers among themselves, with insufficient information from institutions.
