Teaching material research and development in the field of mediation: Design and redesign of research instruments within the framework of a Design-Based Research

Abstract:

This thesis deals with the research and development of teaching materials in the field of mediation in the context of teaching German as a foreign language in the Czech Republic. It is based on the lack of teaching materials for the development of mediation competence, which plays a key role in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) Companion Volume with new descriptors, published in 2020. As part of the CvičMe project, based on the principle of design-based research, teacher’s resource book for mediation Sag's weiter was created. The focus of this work is the design, piloting, and subsequent redesign of research instruments that were necessary for the evaluation of emerging mediation tasks for this book. Three instruments were created: a reflection sheet for experts, a questionnaire for students, and an online questionnaire for teachers. Using qualitative methods such as think-aloud, stimulated recall, and semi-structured interview, these instruments were piloted and optimized for subsequent use in the project. The work highlights how beneficial the iterative development process within design-based research is for ensuring the quality of research instruments in subject-specific didactic research.

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá výzkumem a vývojem výukových materiálů v oblasti mediace v kontextu výuky němčiny jako cizího jazyka v České republice. Vychází z nedostatku výukových materiálů pro rozvoj mediační kompetence, která hraje klíčovou roli v Dodatku ke Společnému evropskému referenčnímu rámci pro jazyky (SERRJ) vydaném v roce 2020. V rámci projektu CvičMe, založeného na principu Design-based research, byla vytvořena cvičebnice mediace Sag‘s weiter. Těžištěm této práce je design, pilotáž a následný redesign výzkumných nástrojů, které byly nezbytné pro evaluaci vznikajících mediačních úloh pro tuto cvičebnici. Vznikly tak tři nástroje: reflexní arch pro experty, dotazník pro žáky a online dotazník pro učitele. Pomocí kvalitativních metod, jako je Lautes Denken (přemýšlení nahlas), Lautes Erinnern (hlasité vybavování) a polostrukturované interview byly tyto nástroje pilotovány a optimalizovány pro následné využití v projektu. Práce poukazuje na to, jak přínosný je cyklický vývojový proces v rámci design-based research pro zajištění kvality výzkumných nástrojů v oborově didaktickém výzkumu.
