This thesis discusses the use of Chinese language in the form of code-mixing and code-switching in English-written poetry of a contemporary Chinese diaspora author Nina Mingya Powles. Using qualitative content and stylistic analyses, I focus on finding patterns in the usage of Chinese language in her poems and investigate how it impacts her work.
