Inscription of the City of Mariánské Lázně on the UNESCO World Heritage List

Abstract:

Diplomová práce je zpracována na aktuální téma s cílem zhodnotit celý proces zápisu Mariánských Lázní na Seznam světového kulturního a přírodního dědictví UNESCO, dále analyzovat případné problémy související s procesem nominace, posoudit omezení aktivit a činností města po zápisu a navrhnout opatření na řešení případných nedostatků. V teoretické části práce autorka čtenářům přináší základní poznatky z oblasti řešené problematiky, jedná se o témata jako je například vývoj lázeňství na území České republiky, historie města Mariánské Lázně, současná data a informace o městě, dále informace o významu a funkci organizace UNESCO a nově vzniklém souboru jedenácti lázeňských měst, která společně podstupují nominační proces, jehož výsledkem má být zápis na Seznam světového kulturního a přírodního dědictví UNESCO. Analytická část je v první kapitole věnována samotnému procesu zápisu, jednotlivým krokům, které město podniklo k nominaci v minulosti, současnému stavu a dopadům koronavirové krize na výsledek celého řízení. Součástí analytické části je case study, zpracovaná na téma Aplikace Local Management Plans nominovaných statků Lázeňského trojúhelníku. Autorka se v diplomové práci zabývá také informovaností rezidentů a místních podnikatelů v celém nominačním procesu. Závěr práce obsahuje rozhovor na aktuální téma se site managerem města a managerem celého projektu.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis deals with the current topic with the aim to evaluate the whole process of putting Mariánské Lázně on the register of The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, to analyse potential problems related to the process of nomination, to discuss the limitation of city activities after the registration and to suggest measures about solving potential deficiencies. In the theoretical part of the thesis the author presents fundamental findings within the discussed topic, for example about the development of spa industry in the Czech Republic, the history of Mariánské Lázně, current data and information about the city, details about the function and purpose of the organisation UNESCO and also about a newly created set of eleven spa cities which together undergo the nomination process that should result in putting them on the register of UNESCO. The first chapter of the analytical part is devoted to the process itself, individual steps of nominalization which the city Mariánské Lázně underwent in the past, current state of affairs and effects of covid crisis on the results of the whole procedure. The analytical part also contains a case study on the topic of Application of Local Management Plans by the nominalised goods of the spa triangle. The author also deals in her thesis with the awareness of residents and local entrepreneurs about the whole nominalisation process. In the end of the thesis we can find an interview about the topic with a site manager of the city and also the whole project.
