Teaching Strategies of the Historical Component of the Social Science Curriculum in the Primary School

Abstract:

Předkládaná diplomová práce se zabývá výukovými strategiemi, které učitelé uplatňují při výuce historické složky společenskovědního vzdělávání na 1. stupni základní školy. V teoretické části této práce budou vymezena teoretická východiska k didaktickým strategiím učitele ve výuce historického učiva na 1. stupni základní školy. Po teoretickém rámci následuje charakteristika metodologie kvalitativně orientovaného výzkumu, který se zaměřuje na strategie výuky šesti učitelů. Prostřednictvím pozorování výuky a interview s učiteli se ukázalo, že výuka historického učiva je realizována hravou formou za využití aktivizačních a komplexních výukových metod. Učitelky často volí narativní přístup, podporují orientaci v historickém čase a ponechávají žáky si osvojovat informace v rámci projektové výuky. Bylo zjištěno, že volí spíše strategie zaměřené na žáky, jež žáky uvádí do aktivní role ve výuce. Přičemž však tyto postupy kombinují se strategiemi tradiční výuky. V neposlední řadě jsou specifikovány okolnosti ovlivňující volbu strategických záměrů učitele ve výuce. V závěru práce se nachází doporučení pro pedagogickou praxi týkající se výuky historického učiva v souvislosti s naším výzkumným zjištěním.

Abstract:

The submitted thesis focuses on teaching strategies employed by teachers in the instruction of historical components of social science education at the primary level of elementary school. In the theoretical part of this work, the theoretical basis for the teacher's didactic strategies in teaching historical content at the primary level of elementary school will be defined. Following the theoretical framework, the characteristics of the methodology for a qualitatively oriented research are presented, focusing on the teaching strategies of six teachers. Through classroom observations and interviews with teachers, it was found that the teaching of historical content is carried out in a playful manner using activating and comprehensive teaching methods. Teachers often choose a narrative approach, support orientation in historical time, and allow students to acquire information within the context of project-based learning. It was found that they prefer strategies focused on students, which engage students in an active role in the learning process, while combining these approaches with traditional teaching strategies. Furthermore, the factors influencing the choice of strategic objectives for teachers in instruction are specified. In conclusion, recommendations for pedagogical practice related to the teaching of historical content in connection with our research findings are provided.
