Current Approaches to Occlusion Therapy for Amblyopia

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce je zaměřena na okluzní terapii amblyopie. Shrnuje jednotlivé typy okluze, zabývá se problematikou okluzních režimů a jsou zmíněna i rizika, která mohou být s okluzní léčbou spojena. Součástí práce jsou také Amblyopia Treatment Studies prováděné Pediatric Eye Disease Investigator Group, které porovnávají efektivitu jednotlivých typů okluze a okluzních režimů v závislosti na stupni závažnosti amblyopie. Je vytyčena důležitost kompliance a jsou uvedeny dostupné druhy okluzorů na trhu. V práci je zahrnuta i zpracovaná kazuistická zpráva.

Abstract:

This bachelor’s thesis deals with the occlusion therapy for amblyopia. The thesis studies and summarizes the particular types of occlusion, as well as the problems connected to the occlusional regimes, and the risks of the occlusion therapy. A part of the thesis is based on Amblyopia Treatment Studies, conducted by Pediatric Eye Disease Investigator Group, comparing the efficacy of the particular types of occlusion and the occlusion regimes in dependence on the severity of amblyopia. The thesis emphasises the importance of compliance and lists the variety of eye patches available on the market. The work includes a casuistic report.
