Ageing of European population from the point of view of pension entitlements

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zaměřuje na stárnutí populace pohledem penzijních závazků. V rámci teoretické části je definován pojem demografického stárnutí a s ním související důsledky, dále jsou popsány typy důchodových systémů a je rozebrán samotný výpočet penzijních závazků. V analytické části je provedeno nejdříve časové srovnání penzijních závazků v České republice mezi lety 2013–2015 a poté mezinárodní komparace penzijních závazků evropských zemí v roce 2015. Součástí je především rozbor všech parametrů, které ovlivňují výpočet penzijních závazků, a hledání souvislostí s výší penzijních závazků v jednotlivých zemích. Mezi parametry, jež ovlivňují výpočet, patří naděje dožití, růst nominálních mezd, míra inflace, diskontní míra, důchodový věk a hrubý náhradový poměr. V rámci analýzy penzijních závazků evropských zemí je použita i metoda shlukové analýzy, jež napomáhá k určení, jak faktory dané penzijní závazky ovlivňují a které země si jsou nejvíce podobné. Prognostická část práce se zaměřuje na zjednodušený výpočet penzijních závazků v pěti vybraných evropských zemích, konkrétně v České republice, Dánsku, Islandu, Itálii a Maďarsku. U každé země je vybrán jeden parametr, který je následně ukázán ve třech variantách. To slouží k porozumění toho, jaký vliv má změna jednoho parametru na celkovou výši penzijních závazků a současně, jak vysoké jsou penzijní závazky v souvislosti se stárnutím populace. Závěrem je okomentován vztah mezi typem důchodového systému státu a celkovými penzijními závazky.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis concentrates its topic on the population ageing from the point of view of pension entitlements. The theoretical part is focused on the definition of demographic ageing and its consequences, types of pension systems are described, and model of pension entitlements is examined. In the analytical part firstly time differences of pension entitlements in the Czech Republic during years 2013–2015 are explored and secondly international comparison of pension entitlements in European countries in 2015 is performed. The main aim is to describe all parameters which influence the result of pension entitlements model and to find connection between pension entitlements in different countries. The parameters which influence the model are the life expectancy, nominal wage growth, inflation rate, discount rate, age of retirement and gross replacement rate. In the analytical part a cluster analysis is used which helps decide how parameters influence the pension entitlements and which countries are the most similar. The prognostic part is focused on a simplified calculation of pension entitlements in five chosen countries, namely the Czech Republic, Denmark, Iceland, Italy, and Hungary. In each country one parameter is chosen to be described in three options to show its influence on pension entitlements. This helps understand the impact of change of one parameter on the final pension entitlements and at the same time how high the pension entitlements in connection with the ageing of population are. In the conclusion the relationship between the type of pension system of a country and the final pension entitlements is commented.
