Aspects of the success of a new filmmaker: production analysis of short films nominated for the Magnesia 2015 Award

Abstract:

Cílem diplomové práce je s využitím produkční analýzy výzkumného vzorku pěti krátkých filmů nominovaných na Cenu Magnesia za nejlepší studentský film 2015 (Amanitas, Furiant, Happy End, Lesapán, Táta) komplexně popsat současnou situaci debutanta v české kinematografii, a to zejména skrze analýzu dílčích aspektů, jako je diverzita studia na jednotlivých filmových institucích, charakter příležitostí k networkingu, proces práce v rámci kreativního týmu projektu, profil filmových tvůrců a jejich vývoj včetně monitoringu médií a fungování projektu v online a off-line světě českého, respektive mezinárodního filmového průmyslu. Výsledkem diplomové práce je konkretizace současné situace vzniku debutantských projektů, respektive nezávislé produkce začínajících filmařů v českém audiovizuálním prostředí s cílem popsat na vzorku oslovených tvůrců generaci současných mladých filmařů, a generačně tak navázat na Studii vývoje českého hraného kinematografického díla Státního fondu kinematografie z roku 2015.

Abstract:

The aim of the thesis is to comprehensively describe the current situation of the film debutant in Czech cinematography, using the production analysis of a sample of five short films nominated for the Magnesia Award for the Best Student Film 2015 (Amanitas, Furiant, Happy End, Lesapán, Dáta), in particular by analyzing partial aspects, such as the diversity of study programme at individual film institutions, the nature of networking opportunities, the process of working within the creative team of the project, the profile of filmmakers and their development, as well as the media monitoring and the functioning of the project in the online and off-line world of the Czech and international film industry. The result of the thesis is the concretization of the current situation of the debutant projects and the independent production of novice filmmakers in the Czech audiovisual environment with the aim of describing the generation of contemporary young filmmakers on the sample of the responded artists.
