Impact of Pediatric Cancer on Family Relationships

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá pohledem rodičů, kteří si se svým dítětem prošli cestou dětské onkologie. Práce je zaměřena na nádorové onemocnění s názvem nefroblastom. Hlavním cílem práce bylo zjistit, jak rodiče prožívají závažnou diagnózu svého dítěte a složitou cestu diagnostiky a léčby. Pro tuto práci byl zvolen kvalitativní výzkum, technikou byl zvolen polostrukturovaný rozhovor a následná data zpracovaná pomoci IPA. Výzkumné šetření přináší zkušenost třech matek, které měly dítě s nefroblastomem. Výsledky výzkumu ukazují, že každá z dotazovaných matek vnímala onemocnění svého dítěte individuálně, proces smíření byl u každé matky osobitý, složitý a různě dlouhý.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis focuses on the perspective of parents who have been through the journey of pediatric oncology with their child. The thesis focuses on a cancer called nephroblastoma. The main aim of the thesis was to find out how parents experience their child's serious diagnosis and the difficult journey of diagnosis and treatment. Qualitative research was chosen for this thesis, the technique chosen was semi-structured interview and subsequent data processed using IPA. The research investigation presents the experience of three mothers who had a child with nephroblastoma. The results of the research show that each of the mothers interviewed perceived their child's illness individually, the process of reconciliation was distinctive, complex and of different lengths for each mother.
