Bakalárska práca sa snaží rozoberať koncept jednotnej formy nórskeho jazyka, ktorá sa označovala termínom samnorsk. Práca popisuje, ako vznikol jazykový spor medzi zástancami jednotlivých foriem (dnes nazývaných nynorsk a bokmål) a kladie si za cieľ analyzovať príčiny, kvôli ktorým snahy o samnorsk stroskotali.
