Selected risk factors in the context of quarter-life crisis

Abstract:

Tématem bakalářské práce jsou vybrané rizikové faktory v kontextu čtvrtživotní krize u lidí v mladé dospělosti. Model čtvrtživotní krize vychází z pojetí Olivera Robinsona. Rizikové faktory představují aktuálně prožívaný stres a negativní emotivitu. Cílem práce je zpracovat problematiku čtvrtživotní krize u lidí v mladé dospělosti a zkoumat vliv těchto rizikových faktorů. Jedná se o kvantitativní korelační empirický výzkum. Data byla získávána online formou prostřednictvím dotazníkové baterie, která je součástí širší studie zaměřené na čtvrtživotní krizi u mladých dospělých v ČR. Pro měření čtvrživotní krize byl použit Developmental Crisis Questionnaire (DCQ-12), pro měření aktuálně prožívaného stresu škála Perceived Stress Scale (PSS), negativní emotivita byla měřena pomocí Pacient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9). Výzkumný soubor tvořilo 421 respondentů (18-40 let). Z výsledků vyplývá, že 31,8 % z nich prožívá čtvrtživotní krizi. Dále bylo zjištěno, že ženy vykazují vyšší úroveň čtvrtživotní krize a vyšší dopad rizikových faktorů než muži. Závěrem zjištění je, že úzkost a vnímaný stres jsou významnými prediktory čtvrtživotní krize, zatímco somatická složka negativní emotivity žádný vliv neprokazuje.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis is focused on selected risk factors in the context of quarter-life crisis in young adulthood. The model of quarter-life crisis is based on Oliver Robinson's concept. The risk factors represent currently experienced stress and negative emotionality. The aim of this paper is to elaborate the issue of quarter-life crisis in people in young adulthood and to investigate the influence of these risk factors. This is a quantitative correlational empirical research. Data were collected online through a questionnaire battery that is part of a larger study focusing on quarter-life crisis in young adults in the country. The Developmental Crisis Questionnaire (DCQ-12) was used to measure quarter-life crisis, the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS) was used to measure currently experienced stress, and negative emotionality was measured using the Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9). The study population consisted of 421 respondents (18-40 years). The results showed that 31.8% of them were experiencing quarter life crisis. It was also found that women showed higher levels of quarter-life crisis and risk factors than men. In conclusion, the findings show that anxiety and perceived stress are significant predictors of quarter-life crisis, while the somatic component of negative emotionality shows no effect.
