Regional convergence of V4 countries

Abstract:

Kaľavský, D. Regionální konvergence zemí V4. Bakalářská práce. Brno: Mendelova univerzita v Brně, 2022 V přehledu literatury jsme nejprve vysvětlili základní pojmy týkající se konvergence regionů NUTS2 zemí V4. Poté jsme prozkoumali současnou znalostní základnu regionálních konvergenčních studií, které také využívají konvergenční proměnné sigma a beta. Následně jsme vypočítali konvergenční proměnné sigma a beta. Zjistili jsme významnou divergenci v sigma konvergenci a slabou beta konvergenci. V diskusi interpretujeme tato zjištění a omezení naší studie. Nakonec nám závěr poskytl konečný verdikt o obecném směřování regionů NUTS2 jako divergenci.

Brno: Mendel University in Brno, 2022 In the literature review we first explained the basic concepts concerning the convergence of NUTS2 regions of the V4 countries. Then we explored the current knowledge base of regional convergence studies that also use the sigma and beta convergence variables. Following that, we calculated the sigma and beta convergence variables. We found significant divergence in sigma convergence and weak beta convergence. In the discussion we interpret these findings and the limitations of our study. Lastly, the conclusion provided a final verdict of the general direction of the NUTS2 regions being divergence.
