Nurses knowledge about cardiac rhythm disorders in the ICU and HDU

Abstract:

Úvod: Jedna z kompetencí sester, je monitorování fyziologických funkcí a jejich zhodnocení, kde také patří monitorace křivky EKG. Rozpoznání patologické EKG křivky je velice důležité, jelikož pokud zůstane arytmie bez povšimnutí, může pacienta ohrožovat na životě. Cíl práce: Hlavním cílem této bakalářské práce bylo zjistit, jakou mají sestry, pracující na ARO a JIP, míru znalostí v oblasti hodnocení poruch srdečního rytmu. Metodika: Soubor tvořilo 101 respondentů. Data byla získána prostřednictvím kvantitativního dotazníkového šetření, kdy se jednalo o nestandardizovaný dotazník. Dotazníkové šetření proběhlo na půdě FN Motol. Konkrétně na Koronární JIP, ARO, Kardiovaskulární JIP a Metabolická JIP. Výsledky: Výsledky průzkumu nám ukázaly, že 72,50 % sester pracujících na ARO a JIP má dostačující vědomosti v oblasti poruch srdečního rytmu. Dále že 94,06 % sester má zájem o zvýšení vědomostí v oblasti poruch srdečního rytmu, ale pouze 40,59 % se někdy účastnilo vzdělávacích kurzů či akcí. A také že 17,82 % (18) sestrám nabízí zaměstnavatel vzdělávací kurzy či jiné vzdělávací akce v oblasti vzdělávání se o poruchách srdečního rytmu. Závěr: Vzhledem k tomu, jak je důležitá časná diagnostika arytmií, by mělo dojít ke snaze doplnit nedostatky vědomostí sester v oblasti poruch srdečního rytmu, ať už pomocí samostudia, či kurzů.

Abstract:

Introduction: One of the competencies of nurses is monitoring physiological functions and their evaluation, which also includes monitoring the ECG curve. Recognizing pathological ECG curves is very important because if arrhythmia goes unnoticed, it can endanger the patient's life. Objective: The main objective of this bachelor thesis was to determine the level of knowledge of nurses working in the ICU and ARD regarding the assessment of cardiac rhythm disorders. Methodology: The sample consisted of 101 respondents. Data were obtained through a quantitative questionnaire survey, which involved an unstandardized questionnaire. The questionnaire survey took place at the Motol University Hospital. Specifically, in the Coronary ICU, ARD, Cardiovascular ICU, and Metabolic ICU. Results: The survey results showed that 72.50% of nurses working in the ICU and ARD have sufficient knowledge in the field of cardiac rhythm disorders. Furthermore, 94.06% of nurses are interested in increasing their knowledge in the field of cardiac rhythm disorders, but only 40.59% have sometimes attended educational courses or events. Also, 17.82% (18) of nurses are offered educational courses or other educational events by their employer in the field of education about cardiac rhythm disorders. Conclusion: Considering the importance of early diagnosis of arrhythmias, efforts should be made to fill in the knowledge gaps of nurses in the field of cardiac rhythm disorders, whether through self-study or courses.
