Quality of life of patients with dizziness

Abstract:

Cíl: Cílem práce bylo zjistit kvalitu života u pacientů se závratěmi a porovnat ji s pacienty bez závratí a populační normou. Dílčím cílem bylo zjistit v jakých oblastech závratě hendikepují pacienty. Metodika: Průzkum probíhal od listopadu 2012 do března 2013 v Centru pro poruchy rovnováhy v Ostravě ? Porubě a na Oddělení pracovního a preventivního lékařství ve Fakultní nemocnici v Ostravě - Porubě. K hodnocení kvality života byla použita zkrácená verze dotazníku WHOQOL - BREF, který posuzuje kvalitu života v oblastech fyzického zdraví, prožívání, prostředí a sociálních vztahů. K zjištění vnímavosti hendikepu u pacientů se závratěmi byl využit dotazník Dizziness handicap inventory (DHI), který hodnotí dopady vestibulární poruchy v oblasti fyzické, psychické a emoční při běžných denních aktivitách. Výsledky: Šetřením pomocí dotazníku WHOQOL ? BREF bylo zjištěno, že závrať výrazně ovlivňuje fyzické zdraví, prožívání a sociální vztahy. Pacienti se závratěmi jsou nespokojeni se zdravím, hůře vnímají bolest a nepříjemné pocity, jsou závislí na lékařské péči, mají sníženou pracovní výkonnost. Kvalita života respondentů ve srovnání s pacienty bez závratí a s populační normou je horší. Dotazníkem Dizziness handicap inventory bylo zjištěno, že závratě hendikepují pacienty se závratěmi nejvíce v oblasti psychické a fyzické. Závěr: Z výsledků dotazníkového šetření vyplývá, že závratě výrazně negativně ovlivňují kvalitu života, nejvýrazněji v oblasti fyzického zdraví. Pomocí DHI dotazníku lze sledovat míru hendikepu u pacientů se závratěmi. Závratě hendikepují pacienty ve fyzické oblasti při běžných denních činnostech.

Abstract:

Objective: The aim of my work was to determine the quality of life in patients with dizziness and to compare it to the patients without dizziness and population norm. Further I was interested in what areas the dizziness handicaps the patients. Methods: The survey was conducted from November 2012 to March 2013 at the Centre for balance disorders in Ostrava - Poruba and in the Department of Occupational and Preventive Medicine at the Hospital in Ostrava - Poruba. To evaluate the quality of life was used the questionnaire WHOQOL - BREF, which assesses the quality of life in the areas of physical health, experience, environment and social relations. To determine the perceptiveness of handicapped patients with dizziness was used the questionnaire Dizziness Handicap Inventory (DHI), which evaluates the effects of vestibular disorders in the physical, mental and emotional areas during normal daily activities. Results: The investigation by questionnaire WHOQOL - BREF has been found that vertigo significantly affects physical health, emotions and social relationships. Patients with dizziness are dissatisfied with health, more they perceive pain and discomfort, are dependent on medical care and have reduced work performance. The quality of life of respondents, compared with patients without vertigo as the population norm is worse. Through the questionnaire dizziness handicap inventor was found that dizziness handicaps patients most significantly in the area of mental and physical. Conclusion: The results of the survey show that dizziness strongly negatively affect quality of life, most notably in the area of physical health. Using DHI questionnaire can be monitored the extent of handicap in patients with dizziness. Dizziness handicaps patients in the physical sphere during normal daily activities.
