Skulls

Abstract:

Teoretickou částí této práce se stal rozbor fenoménu sběratelství, lebek a trofejí, na které nahlíží společnost nejen jako na artefakty související s myslivectvím, nýbrž také jako na symbolické prostředky. Významově totiž lebka bývá vnímána jako symbol ne-zničitelné duše, odvěké touhy člověka po znovuzrození, nicotnosti a pomíjivosti fyzického světa, lidských zkušeností. Vyjadřuje koloběh života a smrti, ale překvapivě také symboliku vitality a inteligence, neboť je schránou pro mozek. Z hlediska různých dal-ších oborů analyzuje tato práce kromě fenoménu sběratelství také vztahy mezi objekty a lidmi, význam trofejí ve specifické komunitě, jejich roli apod. Práce přibližuje také umělce a jejich díla, která obsahují námět lebek, a to jak v tuzemském, tak i zahraničním kontextu.

Abstract:

The theoretical part of this work stems from the analysis of the phenomenon of collecting, skulls and trophies. Skulls are viewed by society not only as artefacts, which are related to hunting, but also as a symbol. For instance, the skull is perceived as a sym-bol of the indestructible soul, man´s ancient desire for rebirth, nothingness and transien-cy of the physical world, human experiences. Skull is expression of the life and death cycle, but surprisingly a symbol of vitality and intelligence as well, as it holds a brain. In terms of various other disciplines this work analyses the phenomenon of collecting, the relationships between objects and people, the importance of trophies in a specific com-munity, their role, etc. The work also introduces artists and their works which contain the theme of skulls, in both domestics and foreign contexts.
