Extent of Cross-Border Trade and Geographic Market Determination

Abstract:

The aim of the thesis Geographic market determination is to evaluate the definition of the relevant geographic markets of production and sale of wine in Czech Republic on the basis Elzinga-Hogarty test and compare it with the decision of the Office for the Protection of Competition. In the first part we will explain the theory on usage of Elzinga-Hogarty test. In the second part we will characterize sector of production and sales of wine in the Czech Republic, analyze cross-border trade and delineate relevant geographic markets. The last part is focused on comparing of obtained results with the decision of the Office for the Protection of Competition.

Abstract:

Cieľom diplomovej práce Vymezení geografického relevantního trhu je zhodnotiť vymedzenie geografických relevantných trhov výroby a distribúcie vína v Českej republike pomocou Elzinga-Hogarty testu a porovnať jeho záver s rozhodnutím Úradu na ochranu hospodárskej súťaže. V prvej časti práce sa zameriame na teóriu použitia Elzinga-Hogarty testu. V druhej časti charakterizujeme sektor výroby a predaja vína v Českej republike, analyzujeme cezhraničný obchod a vymedzíme relevantné geografické trhy. Posledná časť je zameraná na porovnanie získaných výsledkov s rozhodnutím Úradu na ochranu hospodárskej súťaže.
