The issue of Czech and Slovak student competitions focused on furniture design

Abstract:

Bachelor diploma thesis explores the phenomenon of a competition in student design and its impact on the creativity and career of a young designer. It also describes the development of the international competition The Award of Professor Jindřich Halabala, which is named after the leading designer and pioneer in the furniture industry of the 20th century. There are also introduced other student competitions organized in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. The aim of the thesis is to highlight the importance of a competition in student design and the issue of furniture design evaluation.

Abstract:

Bakalárska diplomová práca skúma fenomén súťaže v študentskom dizajne a jej dopad na tvorivosť a kariéru mladého dizajnéra. Ďalej popisuje vývoj medzinárodnej súťaže Cena profesora Jindřicha Halabalu, ktorá nesie meno popredného dizajnéra a priekopníka v nábytkárskom priemysle 20. storočia. V práci sú zároveň predstavené ďalšie študentské súťaže usporiadané v Českej republike a na Slovensku. Cieľom práce je upozorniť na význam súťaže v študentskom dizajne a na problematiku hodnotenia dizajnu nábytku.
