Social inequality in the TV show Výměna manželek

Abstract:

Cílem bakalářské práce je v kontextu relační teorie sociální nerovnosti P. Bourdieu analyzovat reprodukci sociální nerovnosti na příkladu televizního pořadu Výměna manželek. Práce se zaměří na styl života aktérů, včetně jejich způsobu vystupování na kameru, rodinných vztahů, úrovni bydlení, trávení volného času, závislostí, gastronomických dovedností nebo nakládání s penězi. Na základě kvalitativní obsahové analýzy budou identifikovány dílčí reprezentace sociální nerovnosti, které se v pořadu se zjevným záměrem vyskytují. Dále se práce zaměří i na analýzu individuálního pohledu, kterým jednotliví aktéři pohlížejí a hodnotí sama sebe i ostatní účastníky pořadu.

Abstract:

The goal of the bachelor thesis is to analyze the reproduction of social inequality in the context of the Pierre Bourdieu's book 'Distinction: A Social Critique of the Judgement of Taste' in the television show Výměna manželek. This work will focus on the lifestyle of participants, including their performance in front of the camera, family relationships, standard of living, leisure, addictions, gastronomic skills or money management. By using qualitative content analysis we will identify partial representations of social inequality that appear in the show with obvious intent. Furthermore, the work will also focus on the individual view that participants view and evaluate themselves and other show participants.
